January 20, 2025 El-Geneina – Darfur24 On Monday, Rapid Support Forces gave all militants and fighters inside El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, 48 hours to hand over the city and leave it.

In a statement obtained by “Darfur24”, RSF said that it guarantees “humane treatment of militants and fighters and their immediate release”.

RSF emphasized that this is the final call to fighters in the ranks of the Army and the Movements fighting alongside it, given RSF “knowledge that the majority of them are from the marginalized and oppressed backgrounds, and that circumstances have pushed them to go along with the situation and fight as proxes for the Islamic Movement”.

The statement called on all militants from the Army and the Forces supporting it to lay down their weapons, leave military sites, and surrender immediately.

It continued: “Once the deadline has passed, there will be no leniency in dealing decisively with all militants inside the city, and there is no excuse for those who have been warned.”

The Rapid Support Forces have been launching attacks on El-Fasher since May 10, in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the Army in Darfur, but the Army and the Joint Force allied with it are fiercely defending the city.

The International Organization for Migration, affiliated with the United Nations, says that the fighting in El-Fasher has displaced more than 423,000 people between April 1 and December 16, 2024.
