January 14, 2025 Wad-Madani: Darfur24 The Sudanese Army considered, on Tuesday, the killing incidents that targeted citizens in Al-Jazeera State by its elements and Allied Forces, as “individual transgressions.”
At a time when serious violations continued in Al-Jazeera State by elements wearing Sudanese Army uniforms, against people in civilian clothes, including killing by slaughter and dropping them into the Nile waters, in addition to shooting, according to what was shown in videos circulating on social media.
The army said in a press release that it condemns the individual transgressions that recently took place in some areas of Al-Jazeera State, stressing its strict adherence to international law and its keenness to hold accountable anyone involved in any transgressions that target any person in “Kanabi” and the villages of the state.
He added that he is “following up on the security situation in the region in coordination with Jazeera State Security Committee, to secure all areas and thwart the opportunity for the parties lurking in the country who are trying to exploit any individual violations to pin them on the Armed forces and their Supporting Forces,” according to the circular.
In addition, new video clips circulating on social media showed the continuation of serious violations committed by elements in Sudanese Army uniforms in Jazeera State against people in civilian clothes, on charges of cooperating with Rapid Support Forces.
The Leader of the Democratic Forces Coordination, Khaled Omar Yousif, said that since the Sudanese Army entered the city of Wad-Madani, Jazeera State has witnessed killings based on identity and suspicion, as well as field executions.
He explained that elements of Sudanese Army, the Islamist battalions, and the Armed Groups allied with them, exchange all forms of crimes amid the encouragement of those he described as “trumpets of war and destruction.”
For its part, the Legal Committee of “Tagadum” called on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to open an urgent and independent international investigation into the crimes committed in “Kambo Taiba and other Al-Kanabi areas.”
It also called for the implementation of international mechanisms to ensure the safety and security of civilians in conflict areas, in light of the absence of the legitimate government and the inability of local institutions to provide the necessary protection for civilians, according to the statement.
“Tagadum” added that “these serious violations constitute a real test of the International Community’s commitment to protecting civilians in areas of armed conflict,” noting that the failure to take immediate action to hold those responsible for crimes accountable reinforces the culture of impunity and threatens security and stability in Sudan.
