January 9, 2025 Kabkabiya – Darfur24 A local leader in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, uncovered that 3 people were arrested by Rapid Support Forces on Wednesday, on charges of collaborating with Sudanese Army and providing coordinates for aircraft to bomb the city.
The local leader, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Darfur24 that an Armed Force arrested “Mohamed Issa Salih, Adam Musa Arbab, and Najmaldien Khater” from Almawashi market and took them to the Headquarters of 21st Infantry Brigade. After interrogation, one of them was found to have incriminating messages on his phone, which caused his detention, according to the source.
He mentioned that the rest of the detainees were fined 500,000 Sudanese pounds each, which was paid, and they were released on Thursday afternoon.
He added that “the Rapid Support Forces are carrying out arbitrary arrests against young people, searching phones, monitoring Starlink centers, and arresting anyone they suspect, and they demand a fine even if they do not find evidence.”
An eyewitness from Kabkabiya told “Darfur 24” that the family of the detainee, Mohammed, tried to pay any amount of money to secure his release, but one of the soldiers told them that he would be transferred to El-Fasher for further investigation.
The Rapid Support Forces have controlled Kabkabiya since 2023 after engaging in limited battles with the Command of 21st Infantry Brigade in Kabkabiya, affiliated with the 6th Infantry Division in El-Fasher.
