Al-Geneina, December 28(Darfur24) Field commanders said on Friday that the Rapid Support Forces( RSF)are planning to launch a large-scale attack on the town of Tina in North Darfur State, near the border with Chad.
This development comes days after an attack carried out by the joint force of armed movements on the Al-Zuruq before the Rapid Support Forces regained control of the area, which was defended by thousands of fighters from militias allied with the RSF.
RSF Field commanders told Darfur24 that they mobilized huge forces supported by heavy artillery in preparation for attacking the joint forces present inside the Sudanese city of Tina.
They indicated that the forces gathered from several areas in Darfur states, amid strict instructions not to attack populated civilian areas.
The commanders explained that the attack will be simultaneous with another attack on areas in North Darfur State.
The Rapid Support Forces command has prevented soldiers from attacking populated civilian areas in the far north of Darfur and is focusing on areas where the army and the joint force are gathering, according to sources who spoke to Darfur24.
The Rapid Support Forces are deployed on the northern border strip with Chad opposite the city of Kulbus, 170 km north of the city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.
Fighters have posted videos on social media showing members of the joint force, most of whom are from the Sudanese Alliance and Justice and Equality, threatening to attack some areas in West Darfur, including the city of El Geneina.
