December 26, 2024Nyala: Darfur24 The civilian Administration affiliated with Rapid Support Forces has resumed the broadcasting of Nyala Radio in South Darfur state. The radio station resumed its transmission on Tuesday on “FM 98” after being off-air since the outbreak of the war between the Army and the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023.

Nyala Radio began its trial broadcast on Tuesday by airing the press conference announcing the results of the primary and intermediate certificate exams. On Wednesday, it continued by broadcasting the press conference on the formation of judicial structures in the state.

The studios of the State Radio and Television Authority in South Darfur were almost completely destroyed as a result of the war. The radio studio was burned, and the South Darfur Satellite Channel studio was looted and vandalized.

Nyala Radio was established in 1983, making it the third radio station after Omdurman and Juba.

In recent years, Nyala Radio’s broadcast covered the Darfur and Kordofan regions and some neighboring western countries like Chad and the Central African Republic, and the borders of South Sudan. However, the coverage area has shrunk due to government neglect of the radio station.

Nyala Radio has contributed to changing the shape of social awareness of Darfur People and has continued to present programs that support community peace and combat hate speech.
