November 21, Nairobi — An estimated 35 households were displaced from Al Koma town, North Darfur, due to airstrikes, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Wednesday. There were also reports of deaths and injuries among civilians.

“The situation remains tense and unpredictable,” IOM said. Al Koma has been hosting more than 45,000 displaced families who fled the violence in El Fasher and Khartoum. This comes after IOM said that nearly 11.2 million have been internally displaced, over 30 per cent of Sudan’s population.

In October, dozens of people were killed and over 200 injured in Sudanese army air strikes in Al Koma. The bombing allegedly led to the burning of the entire market.

Al Koma is 54 kilometers southeast of Melit, held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and 80 kilometers northeast of El Fasher. It has been caught in the crossfire of continuous Sudanese army airstrikes on the RSF.

Sources have also told Darfur24 that the security situation in North Darfur State is trapping citizens as ticket prices rise and the RSF prevent vehicles from leaving certain areas.
