October 17, Al-Malha — Three civilians were injured by gunfire from a member of the Joint Forces of the Armed Movements, in the Al-Malha area, 210 km northeast of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur.

An eyewitness in the town of Al-Malha, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Darfur24 that a quarrel broke out between an individual affiliated with the Joint Force of the Armed Movements and one of the citizens in the town, after which he opened fire, wounding three people who were transferred to Al-Malha Rural Hospital.

He stated that the Joint Forces in the town arrested the gunman and placed him in custody to investigate the incident.

A number of traditional leaders in the local community demanded that the carrying of weapons be banned in markets and public places to stop crimes committed with weapons and clashes with citizens.

The leaders of the Joint Force of the Armed Movements were called upon to commit to keeping their military forces in their designated positions outside the city.

A number of soldiers of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid Nour are stationed in the town of Al-Malha, according to the Movement’s Official Spokesman, Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al-Nayer.
