October 17, El Fasher — The Sudanese Army has stopped the satellite internet service Starlink in El Fasher city, without explanation, Internet cafe owners said on Thursday. They allegedly received official directives from the Intelligence Division to stop the Wifi service for five days and close their stores until Monday.
The services of all telecommunications companies have been suspended for months amid the ongoing war in El Fasher. The city, controlled by the army, is currently experiencing continuous artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which has resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians. Others have been forced to flee to Tawila and Jabel Marra.
