October 16, Adre — A tour by Darfur24 unmasked a frightening decline in health services and drinking water in Abutingi camp for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad. The camp is one of the largest Sudanese refugee camps in Chad, located nearly 30km south of the city of Adre and is inhabited by approximately 45,000 refugees.
Sources told Darfur24 that women in the camp camp line up at water centers from 4am to 10am to obtain water, which often runs out. They said that water services began to decline when Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which was supervising the water stations, handed over to another organization.
The health centers that provided medical services to citizens in the camp have also witnessed a significant decline. Allegedly they only provide three medicines and have a shortage of medical tests.
