October 16, Mallit — A number of traders in the market of the city of Mallit, North Darfur, said that the movement of large commercial trucks that used to reach the area from the city of Daba in the Northern State and Kufra in Libya has stopped.

One of the traders, Yasir Mohammed, told Darfur24 that the movement of commercial trucks has stopped as a result of the recent battles and repeated air strikes on the city of Mallit, in addition to the spread of armed groups on the road. This has caused a scarcity of food commodities and a rise in prices. The market has become only partially operational and is often closed due to the threat of bombing from the Sudanese army, who have already repeatedly targeted the area.

The Rapid Support Forces have been in control of Mallit city since April. The city of Mallit is one of the largest commercial centers in the Darfur region.
