October 15, Adre — A number of Sudanese refugees in Abutangi camp, adjacent to the city of Adre in eastern Chad, complained about the spread of armed groups practicing looting and theft inside the camp.
Abutangi camp is one of the largest Sudanese refugee camps in Chad, located nearly 30km south of the city of Adre and is inhabited by approximately 45,000 refugees.
A refugee, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Darfur24 that there is an armed group using motorcycles that operates in the markets of Abutangi refugee camp and is involved in incidents of looting, theft and threats against refugees.
Allegedly some of the information available to refugee leaders indicates that some of the group’s members belong to official security agencies in Chad.
