October 14, Kampala — An unidentified plane landed in Nyala, capital of South Darfur, in the early hours of Sunday morning, sources told Darfur24. This was the third plane to arrive at the airport since the start of the war.

The airport was allegedly recently renovated following intense airstrikes by the Sudanese army’s warplanes last month. One source told Darfur24 that the plane was transporting wounded people from war operations.

An eyewitness who spoke to Darfur on condition of anonymity said  that a large plane landed at the airport at around 12 a.m. and made a sound and tremors on the ground. It remained at the airport until 1:45 p.m. before departing to an unknown destination.

Last month, the first plane landed at Nyala airport since the outbreak of the war, followed by another a few days later.
