October 14, Khartoum — A military field source told Darfur24 that the Sudanese army took control of new positions in the Al-Muqrin area in central Khartoum on Saturday.

Violent clashes allegedly continued for hours between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in which heavy artillery, drones and ground forces were used. The army took control of the electricity station, the Martyr Mosque and the Zain Telecommunications Company tower.

This is the first advance by the army since it began a ground operation in Khartoum at the end of last month. Saturday’s battles witnessed intense fighting where drones were used in large areas in Al-Muqrin, reaching the entrance of Tuti Island, according to Darfur 24 sources.
