October 12, Kutum — Dozens of civilians were killed and wounded and a number of villages were subjected to widespread violations by armed groups allied with Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Ambaro areas of North Darfur State.
Haroun Khatir Ibrahim, a leader in the community, told Darfur24 that armed groups burned a number of villages around the areas of Biraidiek, Bier- Mazza and Donki Baashim. Dozens of wounded were transferred to the towns of Ambarow, Karnoi and Kutum to receive treatment and thousands were displaced to Kassab.
Another resident in the Bier- Mazza area, Hussein Abakar Ibra, told Darfur24 that the RSF expanded their military operations against civilians in the area for ethnic reasons following battles last week, deploying in specific tribal areas, besieging them, and burning some of their villages.
He said that some villages have not been reached due to the difficult security situation, and the fate of their citizens is unknown. He estimated the the number of displaced persons to be approximately 24,000 citizens, most of whom are women, children, and the elderly, who fled their villages after thousands of heads of livestock and property were looted. Young men were tortured and arrested on the pretext of affiliation to Armed Movements.
The areas of Bier- Mazza, 40 km northeast of Kutum, witnessed fierce battles between the Joint Forces of Armed Movements and the RSF last week, leaving dozens dead, wounded and captured from both sides.
