October 9, El Daien — The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in East Darfur State imposed strict censorship on Internet centers via satellite. The centers had provided a vital method of communication after the shutdown of public communication networks due to the ongoing war.
The residents of Darfur, in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces rely on the Internet via satellite, called Starlink, as the only means of communication in the region.
An owner of a communication centers in the city of El Daein told Darfur24 that after forming a civil administration and appointing legal advisors, the RSF intensified wide-scale arrest campaigns on the grounds of communicating with the Army, which also forced citizens to stop visiting the Internet center for fear of arrest.
