October 8, El Fasher — At least 10 people were killed and others injured in an artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Abu Shouk camp for internally displaced persons in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur.
Adam Idris, a resident of the camp, told Darfur24 that the RSF targeted various parts of the camp, including the market, which led to civilian casualties. The Abu Shouk camp, home to approximately 400,000 people, has been repeatedly targeted by RSF shelling, according to a statement from the camp’s emergency room.
On Sunday, the city of El Fasher witnessed a large-scale attack by the Sudanese Army against the RSF. The army has brought in significant reinforcements.
The Rapid Support Forces have been launching attacks on El Fasher since May 10, in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the Army in Darfur, but the Army and the Joint Forces allied with it are fiercely defending the city.
