October 6, Kutum — The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have tightened entry and exit procedures, and imposed a curfew for internally displaced persons (IDP) from Kassab camp in Kutum locality.

A local leader in Kutum town told Darfur24 that the RSF informed the camp administration of the complete ban on Wi-Fi satellite internet services and set curfew times for citizens in the camp from 4pm until the next morning. There are allegedly severe penalties for non-compliance.

The ban is apparently in place to prevent the leaking of information about the desert battles that are currently taking place near the town. Allegedly some citizens have been communicating with the army about RSF movements.

The areas of”Bier Mazza, 40 km northeast of Kutum, witnessed fierce battles on Thursday between the army and RSF, leaving dozens dead, wounded and captured from both sides. Each side claims to control the area, according to videos circulating on social media.
