October 5, Khartoum — Residents of Tuti Island in Central Khartoum told Darfur24 that they were subjected to widespread looting and intimidation by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after the army launched a ground operation in Khartoum last Tuesday. They pleaded to organizations to evacuate them from the besieged island immediately.
They said that RSF looted the health center and they are also on the brink of famine. The island, which has been under intense siege, is also facing a severe drinking water crisis, as the only water station has been out of service for four months.
Tutsi is an island in Sudan where the White Nile and Blue Nile merge to form the main Nile. It is mainly agricultural and where Khartoum originally got a large supply of fruits and vegetables.
