October 4, Nairobi — 1.2 million Sudanese have fled to Egypt since the start of Sudan’s war in April 2023, according to the latest figures provided by the Government of Egypt to the United Nations.
These figures indicate that Egypt is currently the country to receive the most refugees from Sudan during the current conflict, followed by Chad.
However, of the $57.7 million required by the United Nations for the Sudan emergency response in Egypt this year, it has only received 51 percent of the funding.
