October 2, Mellit — The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army have both claimed to achieving victory in the battles that took place on Tuesday  in North Darfur.

Fierce battles broke out between the joint forces allied with the Sudanese army and the RSF on Tuesday in the town of Mado, located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Mellit in North Darfur.

The joint forces said in a statement obtained by Darfur24 that it inflicted heavy losses on the RSF, including the complete destruction of front vehicles and the seizure of 35 military vehicles. They allegedly continued  their advance to the second line of defense of the RSF in Wadi Sandi.

Meanwhile, the RSF announced their “monumental triumph in North Darfur,” in a statement on the X platform. They said that they had thwarted the joint forces’ attempt to reach the city of El Fasher. They claim to have killed 450 soldiers and seized nearly 140 vehicles.

“ Any remaining hope they shared for victory in Port Sudan have been shattered by the relentless strength and unwavering bravery of our forces,” the statement said.
