September 30, Khartoum — Free meals have ceased in the Azhari area south of Khartoum due to lack of funding, according to the emergency room of Janoob Alhizam.
Those stranded in the capital, Khartoum, have heavily relied on collective kitchens run by emergency rooms to secure their food. The rooms have worked to mobilize resources by attracting donations from Sudanese abroad and humanitarian organizations.
Now, thousands of lives in the region are threatened, according to a statement from Janoob Alhizam. The residents in the
region are living amid a devastating humanitarian crisis, with increasing numbers of malaria and dengue fever and a scarcity of medication and humanitarian aid.
