September 30, Khartoum — The Sudanese army and its allied forces continued their attack on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) sites in Khartoum for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday in the first multi-pronged ground operation in the city since the outbreak of the war last year.
The ground operation has allegedly been prepared by the army for more than six months with the aim of breaking the siege imposed on a number of army units in the capital, a military source told Darfur24. They confirmed that dozens of soldiers from both sides have been killed.
Darfur24 found that the army is advancing inside the city of Bahri, where the forces crossed from Omdurman via the Halfaya Bridge and carried out successive attacks in Kadro and Halfaya neighborhoods. Meanwhile, the RSF withdrew towards the Shambat areas, where intermittent clashes are taking place.
In Khartoum North also known as Bahri, the army and joint forces launched a large-scale attack on the Jelei Refinery where RSF affiliates were deployed.
Darfur24 verified video content of the release of detainees who were detained by the RSF in a building under construction in the Halfaya area, where they were transferred to Omdurman for medical checks.
Meanwhile, the RSF official spokesman said in a statement that his forces inflicted heavy losses on the army and the joint forces, allegedly destroying their convoy and seizing equipment. He said that the army and joint forces retreated to the entrance of Shendi city in the North.
The military source said that the army and joint forces withdrew from the villages of Hajar al-Asal, north of Bahri and south of Shendi, hours after their deployment.
