September 28, Nyala — Sudanese army’s warplanes launched an airstrike on the capital of South Darfur state, on Saturday morning, and bombed Nyala International Airport with two missiles.

On September 21, a cargo plane landed at Nyala International Airport for the first time since the outbreak of the conflict, followed by a second plane days later. Sources believe that the cargo planes brought supplies to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that control the state.

On Saturday, eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that the warplane dropped two explosive missiles, one inside the airport and the other outside it. RSF anti-aircraft guns fired at it intensively.

This airstrike on Nyala International Airport was the third of its kind since the first cargo plane landed at the airport.
