September 27, Atbara — Cholera isolation centers are becoming increasingly overcrowded in River Nile State, where the epidemic is spreading rapidly. Tents have been put up in the courtyards to deal with the escalating cases.

Medical sources told Darfur24 that the celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday in the Kadbas areas led to the expansion of the epidemic. According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health, cholera has claimed the lives of 96 people, while the number of infections exceeded 4,000 in the cities of the state.

River Nile State has received thousands of displaced people since the outbreak of the war last year, and the pace of the displacement increased after the Rapid Support Forces took control of the cities of Sennar State early in July.
