September 27, Umm Rawaba — An armed group rebelling against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched successive attacks on the areas of Al-Haqina and Amoura, near the city of Umm Rawaba in North Kordofan. Seven people were killed and others injured.

Last week, the city of Umm Rawaba witnessed violent clashes between the RSF and the gang, after the latter stole a number of cows that were on their way from the city of Abbasiya to Kosti.

Sources from Umm Rawaba told Darfur24 that villages and shops were looted and destroyed on Sunday. Allegedly on Tuesday, the same gang attacked the village of Amoura with armed men on motorcycles. The following day, the army arrived in the village, believing the villagers to be part of the gang. As a result, clashes broke out, leading to the killing of two young men from the village and two army personnel. The gang then attacked the village again that evening.

The gang is now led by Hassan Rabeh after its leader Bashir Balanga was killed.
