September 25, Al-Malha — A medical source at Al-Malha Rural Hospital, 200 km northeast of El Fasher, said on Tuesday that two people had been killed and others injured after the collapse of a local mining well in the Tagro Gold Mine.
An eyewitness told Darfur24 that the edge of the well fell due to the ground’s fragility, which led to the immediate death of two men, Omar Osman Badah and Mohammad Khamis Ali.
Last month, at least eight artisanal miners were killed in a mine shaft collapse in South Darfur. Before the outbreak of the war, there were over 40,000 gold mining sites in Sudan, with about 60 gold processing companies operating in 13 states.
