September 25, Al-Mothalleth — A number of merchants in the Border Triangle area between Sudan, Libya and Egypt told Darfur24 that shops were exposed to a huge fire on Tuesday.
Merchant Mahmoud Othman Al-Rabi said that the fire was the largest of its kind to hit the triangle, noting that hundreds of shops, restaurants, TV clubs and warehouses were engulfed in flames. There allegedly was significant losses in goods and money in addition to the widespread looting and theft of shops and stores.
A scarcity of water meant the fire was difficult to put out.
The Border Triangle market between Libya and Egypt is located in the Martyr Ismail Bilal Administrative Unit in Halfa Locality in the Northern State.
