September 21, Kadugli — Medical sources in Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan State, revealed that two girls, Tasneem  and Makarim Abdullah Tutu, died on Thursday of poisoning after eating tree leaves.

The Kadugli Emergency Room says that the city is facing deteriorating humanitarian conditions, as citizens are confronting extreme difficulties in obtaining food. More than half of the population is forced to rely on tree leaves and vegetables.

A medical source at the Children’s Hospital in Kadugli told Darfur24 that the two cases arrived at the hospital from the Kalba neighborhood north of the city were in very bad health condition.

He explained that food poisoning often occurs as a result of eating spoiled or raw food or leaves.

Medical services have deteriorated severely in Kadugli, with severe shortages of medicines. Prices of basic commodities in the city have also skyrocketed.
