September 21, El Fasher — Shelling between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) resumed on Saturday in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur state.
Since May 10, the RSF have been launching attacks on El Fasher in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the army in Darfur, but the SAF have been fiercely defending the city.
Approximately eight civilians were killed and more than 10 others were injured in shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on El Fasher on Friday. On Thursday evening, the shelling had resumed.
Abubakar Ishaq, a resident of the Birinjiya area, told Darfur24 that the shelling resulted in the deaths of three civilians in the market and five others adjacent areas, in addition to injuring ten others.
A medical source at the military hospital, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that the hospital had received dozens of wounded persons, revealing that new deaths had occurred among the injured who died from their wounds.The source attributed the deaths to a shortage of medicines and medical staff.
