September 18, Nyala — The family of Dr. Ibrahim Abaker Shogar, who is detained by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Nyala, South Darfur, demanded his immediate release without any conditions.

The detained doctor is a well-known government employee who has held a number of positions in the Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Child Affairs.

One of his relatives told Darfur24 that the doctor was arrested from his home on August 29 and that the place of his detention was unknown until three days later. Allegedly he was charged with political affiliation. The relative said that the doctor had refused an offer to work in the executive branch of the civilian government, and due to this he was arrested.

The relative called on the RSF to release him as he is an elderly man suffering from chronic diseases and needs medication and medical care.

The RSF also arrested Suleiman Ahmed Ali Krinik, a retired member of the General Intelligence Service for three months. One of his relatives, Youssef Mahmoud, told Darfur 24 that Krinik’s arrest was based on fabricated false charges against him for collaborating with the Sudanese army and identifying the coordinates for the military aircraft.

The Rapid Support Forces has detained dozens of civilians in special detention centers on a number of charges, including cooperating and coordinating with the Sudanese army, supporting and financing the army, and identifying the coordinates of aircrafts.
