September 16, El Fasher —  Military sources at the 6th Infantry Division Command in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur state, disclosed on Sunday that two officers were killed and another was injured, following a clash within the army’s ranks inside the command on Saturday.

The military sources told Darfur24 that the 6th Infantry Division witnessed widespread discontent and accusations of treason after erroneous airstrikes. On Saturday, the warplane mistakenly launched raids on the Head Quarters of the Army Transportation Corps within the 6th Infantry Division, killing five soldiers and wounding nine others.

An officer with the rank of lieutenant revealed that other officers have fled. The officer, who preferred to be anonymous, told Darfur24 that the military intelligence officer in charge of the 6th Infantry Division command is among the fleeing officers. The two killed officers were an administrative officer accused of being behind the jamming device, and a lieutenant who downplayed the magnitude of the incident, while the injured officer, a lieutenant colonel, was in charge of control and directed the plane crew to hit the site.

Allegedly the 6th Infantry Division command was almost about to witness an explosion on Saturday, but a second commander intervened to defuse the situation.

The command of the 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher has long been the scene of accusations that the division commander, the intelligence commander and others are collaborating with the RSF, similar to the accusations that targeted army commanders in Gezira and Sennar.
