September 16, Adre — Chadian community leaders have given Sudanese refugees one week to pay $150,000 blood money to the family of a Chadian citizen whose body was found near the Maji refugee camp, 60 km from the city of Adre.
The Chadian authorities had arrested refugee community leaders in the Maji camp and demanded that they hand over those suspected of killing the Chadian man whose body and car were found near the camp. They demanded that 93 million Chadian francs, equivalent to $155,000, be paid to his family. Sources told Darfur24 the refugees were given one week to pay the money.
The sources indicated that the refugee community leaders distributed the amount between every family that has a humanitarian aid token, with payment to be made in two installments.
