September 11, El Fasher — 11 people were killed by Sudanese army air strikes on the Mellit town and the Jebel Amer gold mine in North Darfur, and the city of Al Daein in East Darfur, eyewitnesses said.
Abdul Rahman Muhammad Osman, an eyewitness in Al Daein, told Darfur24 that an Antonov aircraft launched airstrikes targeting the Al Quba neighborhood, the airport, and military trucks area south of the city. Six explosive barrels caused the immediate death of five people and injury of five others, including children and women, as well as the destruction of a number of homes.
“The warplanes are bombing without precise coordinates, which results in targeting civilians,” Abdul said.
Yesterday’s raid was the fifth on the city of Al Daein and the seventh in East Darfur State after targeting the towns of Shaeria and Al Namir area last month.
In Mellit, lawyer and humans right activist Mohamed Adel told Darfur24 that a shepherd was killing by the air strikes on Monday. The aircraft bombed the west of the city with over seven shells, also killing a number of livestock. Monday’s raid was the ninth on the city of Mellit, leaving dozens dead and wounded and hundreds of livestock.
According to the Darfur 24 reporter, Monday’s raid on the Jebel Amer was the second since the war began in April last year. Thousands of civilians work in the gold mine.
