September 10, Forbaranga — Over 10,130 families were affected by floods and rains that hit seven residential neighborhoods in the town of Forbaranga, causing landslides, damaging homes,  property and farms, local official said.

The town is suffering from a shortage of food and lack of essential goods, the area’s humanitarian aid commissioner said. Homes and one elementary school were destroyed, and cholera cases have been confirmed.

The heavy rains that have across the Darfur regions in the past days left extensive damage among homes, farms and pastures, while cutting off roads.

The floods and heavy rains in North Darfur State cut off the main road linking the city of El-Fasher and the Zamzam camp for the displaced, and damaged hundreds of homes in the city.
