September 5, Kass —  There has been a significant increase in malnutrition cases among children in the last month, Noura Daw, who works at the nutrition center in Kass, South Darfur, told Darfur24. The center allegedly sees 500 malnourished children under the age of five turn up every day.

Malnourished women who are breastfeeding or pregnant are also treated at the center. But Daw says they don’t have the resources and can only treat 350 children and 30 women with their current supplies.

In the last month, heavy rains and floods have washed away bridges, making it harder to obtain humanitarian aid and food supplies. In Kass, food prices have soared after roads were cut off due to the rains. The Rapid Support Forces took control of the town in July 2023.
