September 4, Kabum — The State Ministry of Health in South Darfur has restored service to Kabum Hospital, 100 km northwest of Nyala, after sending three medical doctors. The hospital had been out of service for over a month.
The head of the civil administration in Kabum, Adam Zakaria Shambal, told Darfur24 that initiatives by the locality’s residents managed to succeed in sending doctors who are expected to arrive in the next two days, after the Ministry of Health approved them.
“Kabum becomes an isolated area from Nyala during the fall,” Shambal said. “This casts a shadow over patients who are transferred to Nyala or neighboring Raheed al-Bardi.”Four patients at Nyala Dialysis Center in South Darfur state died recently among a severe shortage of supplies. Nyala is Sudan’s second largest city and was captured by the Rapid Support Forces last October.
