September 3, Kabkabiya — The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has imposed a curfew from 5pm to 5am in the town of Kabkabiya, 155 km west of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur.
Kabkabiya hosts about 24,000 displaced people from various cities in Darfur fleeing the war. The RSF took control of the town’s infantry just a month after fighting broke out in the country in April 2023.
The curfew was imposed following repeated airstrikes on the town amid a massive arrest campaign. The Sudanese army has intensified its airstrikes on several areas, where it says it is targeting the Rapid Support Forces — but there are complaints that some of them were launched on civilian targets.
Eyewitnesses in Kabkabiya told Darfur24 that the RSF arrested dozens of civilians from homes and markets on the pretext of belonging to the Sudanese army and collaborating with it to bomb the town. One said that the RSF had
One of the witnesses said that the RSF arrested an entire family member and young men from the neighborhoods of Al-Safa, Domi and Karkara who were taken to RSF detention centers.
An unknown armed force had looted a number of animals and carts from farmers east of Kabkabiya on Thursday night, resident Fatima Al-Zahraa Ali Abkar told Darfur24.
