August 29, Dilling — On Thursday, the Sudanese army air dropped eight large containers into Dilling, the secondest largest city in South Kordofan State.

The Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement have been blockading  Dilling from all directions since January, creating a food and medicine crisis in the city. Dilling has a population of approximately 190,000.

Child mortality has risen sharply in Dilling due to malnutrition, now reaching two deaths a day. The air drop comes at a particularly “sensitive time” sources told Darfur24 when there is a dire need for medical supplies and food in the area. Last month it was reported that residents were resorting to eating tree leaves and animal feed to survive.
