August 27, El Fasher — At least 25 civilians were killed and dozens others were injured on Monday, as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) renewed artillery shelling on the market of Abu Shouk camp for displaced people in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur State.

The RSF has been fighting the Sudanese army in El Fasher since May. They have been accused of targeting civilians looting across the city.

Eyewitnesses from the camp told Darfur24 that the RSF targeted the camp market with four shells. Over 30 were injured and taken to health centers and the army’s medical hospital. A medic at Saudi Hospital said they had received ten wounded people.

Adam Ismail, a merchant in the market, told Darfur 24 that the shells targeted the former United Nations and African Union Mission premises and the crops market.

On Monday, the RSF also conducted shelling on the Girls’ Secondary School neighborhood and other neighborhoods south of the Grand Market. A drone was spotted by a Darfur24 reporter who saw it target the state police headquarters in the central section, killing a policeman and wounding others.
