August 23, Ghabish — Senior Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Brigadier General Faiz Hamid, was killed in fighting in Ghabish town in West Kordofan on Thursday, a source told Darfur24.
The clash between the Central Reserve Forces, who were fighting alongside the Sudanese army, and the RSF allegedly lasted six hours. The battle was one of the fiercest the region has seen and all the military vehicles under the general’s command were also destroyed.
The RSF took control of Ghabish back in December 2023, without any significant resistance at the time.
