Port Sudan — On Saturday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Barai Al-Siddiq, held talks with a high-level banking delegation from the Russian Central Bank to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
The aim of the visit was to discuss ways to develop and strengthen banking relations between Sudan and Russia, and open “new horizons” for cooperation between the two countries in finance and banking.
The Sudan News Agency reported that the talks were to address the possibility of using local currencies in settling trade transactions between the two countries, reducing dependence on other foreign currencies. The delegation was discussing joint investment opportunities in vital sectors such as precious metals, especially gold, where Sudanese and Russian banks can finance these projects.
The talks also focused on the possibility of opening Sudanese and Russian banks in both countries.
