Nyala — Fardous Musa was walking back from working on the farm to the IDP camp with other women. Six armed men on motorcycles in military uniforms caught up with them.

The other women managed to escape, but the gunmen captured Fardous and dragged her to a nearby creek to rape her. She resisted and screamed — and one of the armed men shot her and fled. Fardous passed away on the scene.

Abdul Rahman Al-Hajj Abdullah, community leader of Hashaba IDP camp, recounted the story to Darfur24. Fardous was found by locals who rushed to help her in the Wadi Halib area, Mershing, South Darfur State.

In December, a local organization dedicated to monitoring and documenting violence against women in South Darfur state, uncovered new cases of rape by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers against 56 girls.
