On Monday, the Sennar Youth Gathering accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)of committing a new massacre in the village of Jalqani, south of Abu Hajar locality in Sennar State, which claimed the lives of 15 civilians while preventing the residents from burying them.
RSF took control of Singa, the capital of Sennar State, in late June and quickly took control of most of the state’s localities, including Abu Hajar and Ad-Dinder.
The Sennar Youth Gathering said in a statement obtained by “Darfur24” that “the Rapid Support Militia attacked the village of Jalqani yesterday, Sunday, located south of Abu Hajar locality, on the western bank of the Blue Nile, which is a few kilometers from the entrance to Blue Nile State.”
It pointed out that the Rapid Support Forces raided all the neighborhoods of the village and opened fire on citizens randomly and without warning.
He added: “The people of Jalqani bravely tried to defend their village, they defended it with the available weapons, they are just simple farmers who tried by all possible means to protect their village from the evil of death, looting and humiliation of life with sticks and rations only, as the farmers’ turban was in contrast to the dual cannons and automatic machine guns of the Rapid Support Militia.”
The gathering revealed that at least 15 people were killed and dozens were wounded.
He continued: “As a result of the people of Jalqani defending their right to life, the Rapid Support Forces punished the residents of the area, as they prevented the people from burying their martyrs.”
