On Sunday, the army’s warplanes launched intensive air raids on the city of Al-Koma, 76 km northeast of Al-Fasher.
Eyewitness Mohamed Hassan Saleh told “Darfur 24” that the warplanes bombed parts of the western neighborhood and the city market with 5 shells , no civilians casualties were reported.
A military source in the Sudanese army told “Darfur 24” that the aircraft was targeting a convoy of the Rapid Support Forces led by Major General Al-Qoni Saeed, denying targeting civilians in the city.
Today’s raid on Al-Koma locality is the ninth of its kind this year, as the raids left a number of dead and wounded and destroyed a number of homes and institutions and parts of the city market.
In the same context, four people were seriously injured when the Sudanese army’s warplanes launched air raids on the city of Mellit, 65 km north of Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, yesterday evening, Saturday.
A medical source at Mellit Rural Hospital told Darfur 24 that the hospital received 4 wounded people from one family late last night, one of whom was in critical condition and required urgent intervention and transfer to intensive care, which is only available in El Fasher city.
Ahmed Al-Bashiri, a local leader in Mellit locality, confirmed to Darfur 24 that warplanes continued to bomb the city for the second time in a week.
He said that the warplanes targeted the western neighborhood of the market with 4 shells, which resulted in 4 people being injured and a number of homes being destroyed without achieving any military objectives against the Rapid Support Forces.
He added: “The city is hosting a number of displaced people fleeing El Fasher, but the warplanes do not separate military targets from civilian ones and launch raids in the middle of the night.”
The Sudanese army’s warplanes have raided Mellit city in recent months, leaving a number of dead and wounded, and the death of approximately 300 camels and sheep.
Yesterday’s raid, Saturday, is the eighth on Mellit city this year.
