Addis Ababa August 10(Darfur24)On Saturday, consultations conducted by the African Union( AU)and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development – IGAD with Sudanese armed struggle movements and political parties began in preparation for launching a comprehensive dialogue.

The consultations are being attended by the Coordination-body of Civil and Democratic Forces (Tagaddum), the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – led byAbdulaziz Alhilu, the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid Muhammad Nour, the Arab Socialist Baath Party (original), the Democratic Unionist Party (original), and the Popular Congress Party.

Khaled Omar Youssef, a member of Taqaddum political bureau said in a press statement that “these consultations aim to reach a Sudanese political dialogue that contributes to ending the war and building sustainable peace, by addressing the main issues that made Sudan a prisoner of wars, political instability and poverty, until the outbreak of the April 15 war, which represented the peak of the Sudanese crisis, for which our people pay a heavy price every day due to its continuation.”

He stressed that these consultations come at a time when the people of Sudan are looking forward to the Geneva negotiations, which we hope will result in a cessation of hostilities, the opening of humanitarian aid paths, and serious arrangements to protect civilians, while ensuring the necessary monitoring mechanisms for this.

He added: “Our country deserves peace, so let us head towards it with open hearts and minds, and let us reject the voices of war and hatred that will only bring destruction to our country.”
