The International Organization for Migration (IOM) which is affiliated with the United Nations, revealed the displacement of 145,000 families, numbering more than 725,000 people, from Sennar State due to clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces RSF.

Most of the IDPs fled from Sennar State to Gedaref State in eastern Sudan, while the rest went to Blue Nile and White Nile states.

IOM said, in a statement obtained by “Darfur24”, that the field teams of the Displacement Tracking Matrix estimated that a total of 725,965 individuals, about 145,193 families, were fled from Sennar due to the ongoing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces between June 25 and July 29, 2024.

The NGO which works under the umbrella of the UN reported that 63% of those fleeing Sennar State has been displaced from other states, while the rest were residents of the state.

Starting from June 25, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the areas of Jebel Moya, Singa, Dinder, Abu Hajar, Ad-Dali, Al-Mazmum, As-Suki and Karkoj, while trying to take control of the city of Sennar.
