The Coordination and Media Office of the Zamzam IDP Camp Emergency Room, 17 km southwest of Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, said that warplanes bombed the camp with two explosive barrels yesterday evening, Sunday, leaving 4 children in critical condition and destroying 20 homes.

The room said in a press release on its Facebook page, that the aircraft flew over Al Fasher and bombed Zamzam IDP camp with two explosive barrels, one of which did not explode.

Youssef Issa Ishaq, a local community leader in the camp, told “Darfur 24” that the warplanes bombed the populated IDP camp with explosive barrels, wounding 4 children and destroying 20 homes , including 16 homes in Labado neighborhood and 4 homes in Muhajiriya neighborhood.

Youssef condemned the airstrikes on the IDP camps , the latest of which was the killing and wounding of dozens in the Abuja IDP camp last Friday evening, adding: “We are IDPs and have nothing to do with the conflict in the country, so why are the planes bombing us and the Rapid Support Forces shelling us with artillery?”

The Sudanese army’s airstrikes killed 13 people and wounded dozens in an airstrike on the Abuja camp for the displaced on Friday evening, causing a wave of displacement from the camp located north of Al-Fasher and inhabited by more than 30,000 displaced people.

The fighting that broke out on May 10 in the city of Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, left 300 dead and 2,170 wounded, according to Doctors Without Borders MSF.
