Port Sudan , August 4(Darfur 24)
The official spokesman for the Coordination-body of Democratic and Civil Forces “Tagaddum”, Bakri Al-Jak, described on Sunday the accusations of the assistant commander of the army chief Yasser Al-Atta, against the coalition of treason as “irresponsible”.
On Friday night, Sudan TV broadcast an interview with Yasser Al-Atta in which he accused the Tagaddum of treason, among other topics he talked about, including his dissuasion of the army commander from resigning.
Bakri Al-Jak said in a statement obtained by “Darfur 24” that “Yasser Al-Atta accused the Tagaddum Coalition of treason ,are false, and indicate a high degree of irresponsibility in speaking carelessly about someone who is supposed to have the qualities of leadership and wisdom.”
He added: “Al-Atta knows better than anyone else how far these lies are from the truth. Who worked to spare the country war? And who sought to extinguish its fire? And who works day and night to address its disastrous effects, to which Lieutenant General Atta contributed greatly.”
He continued: “Who is the one who actually works for the benefit of his country and people, who calls for peace or who carried pickaxes to destroy his country and kill its people in Sudan’s previous and current wars, and dispersed the sit-in, and participated in making the October 25 coup and the subsequent killing of demonstrators, and finally who ignited the April 15 war and insists on its continuation even if all the people died and the country was destroyed from one end to the other.”
Bakri Al-Jak stressed that Atta “is drowning in a sea of the blood of the Sudanese people that he shed without mercy, and whoever commits all these crimes has no right to claim a moral superiority that grants him the right to distribute certificates of patriotism and the worthiness of belonging to the homeland and its people.”
He stressed that Al-Atta’s statements reveal the tragedy of the military institution, which has been politicized to the core and no longer cares about the simplest rules of military professionalism, as it has no vision for war or peace, but is addicted to the war of words that is full of racism and belittling many of the authentic Sudanese components.
He said that this politicization has weakened the military institution and brought it to the depths of disregard for the interests of the people and the country’s capabilities.
In the same context, the leader of the Progress Coordination, Khaled Omar Youssef, criticized Yasser Al-Atta’s statements, saying that he “appeared very confused and kept sending messages that contradicted each other.”
He continued: “Sometimes he accuses the Freedom and Change and Progress of being the ones who ignited the war and who constitute a cover for the Rapid Support Forces, and then he rushes to contradict himself and says that 95% of the Rapid Support Forces advisors are members of the National Congress and that the officers belonging to the former regime who were retired after the revolution were absorbed into the Rapid Support Forces.”
