The Sudanese Journalists Association( SJA) has decided to embark on a media campaign to stop the devastating war in Sudan and shed light on the humanitarian tragedy of the Sudanese people under the slogan “Don’t forget Sudan”.

The campaign aims to draw attention to the suffering of the Sudanese people that are caused by the senseless war and pressure the warring parties to cease the war and restore dignity of the Sudanese people .

 

In a statement obtained by “Darfur 24”, SJA called on the conflicting parties to “immediately stop the fighting and strive to find peaceful and comprehensive solutions to cut off the path to more victims blood, displacement and loss”.

It urged the conflicting parties to respect international humanitarian laws, protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to heal the wounds of those affected.

The Journalists Association also appealed to actors and people of conscience to support peaceful initiatives and participate effectively in efforts to stop the war and bring peace to Sudan.

The union stressed the need to ensure the safety and security of journalists and enhance the role of journalism in conveying the bare facts and shedding light on the suffering of civilians affected by the war in Sudan.

The head of the Sudanese Journalists Association, Abdel Moneim Abu Idris, said that “the Association had to play a role in drawing attention of the living world to this human tragedy that is being forgotten. Let us all pay attention so that we do not watch thousands of victims die of hunger.”
