An armed group in Kadugli, South Kordofan State, has set free a public prosecutor who was abducted from his workplace in Kadugli , South Kordofan

A source familiar with the case of the kidnapped public prosecutor, Youssef Adam Yaqoub, revealed that the kidnapping was carried out by members of the Special Task Forces affiliated with General Kafi Tayyar, a militia allied with the Sudanese army.

The source told Darfur24 that what happened was a full-fledged kidnapping of the public prosecutor, adding that “the public prosecutor was kidnapped from the Public Prosecution Office in Kadugli in front of the crowds of people at the office and taken to the place of residence of the kidnapped people on top of the mountain without the knowledge of the army leaders or even their commander Kafi Tayyar.”

He added that “the kidnapping was due to a rumor circulating in the city about the release of those accused of stealing about 106 cows after torturing the shepherds and throwing them into a well near the Shair area north of Kadugli.” He confirmed that the militia leader, Kafi Tayyar, released the kidnapped public prosecutor after confirming that he did not release those accused of stealing the cows.
